Below is a list of projects under active consideration by the Trustees.

Interactive Education Website
There is a lot of information about the New Forest, but most is not particularly easy to find. The proposed website will go someway to make it possible for children and adults to access it in a practical way. The New Forest Association in collaboration with the New Forest Museum and the Trust are considering the project to develop the website and maintain it in the future.
Estimated initial cost: £10k

Affordable Housing
Pressure on the housing market in attractive areas in many parts of the UK has led to price increases which make it hard for local people to remain where there roots are. The New Forest is no different. We intend to proactively pursue initiatives that provide housing for rent to local people in the agricultural sector. We will achieve this by enabling gifts of property to the Trust for the purpose, and, in the medium term, by building houses local estates to increase the stock of housing available.
This is a major initiative and we estimate the cost could be around £500k.

Education Centre
We passionately believe the Forest will be better protected if the history of how it has evolved is better understood – and this means creating a place where we can provide hands on experience of how the Forest works – and how people can enjoy and protect it. We believe this centre must be complementary to the work of the New Forest Museum and the Countryside Education Centre. We are already working with the Ninth Century Trust, The New Forest Show Society and the Forestry Commission to look at how the centre might be established at New Park.
We estimate it could cost in the region of £2m.

New Forest Pony Promotion
Huge progress has already been made through the Pony Publicity Scheme, but much more needs to be done to promote the attributes of these adaptable animals. If we don’t do this awareness and marketability of the breed will fall. Funding is needed for national promotion beyond the existing schemes.
Estimated annual cost: £2k.

Education Officer
An Education Officer will not be a short term project. The project is expected to be shared with other organisations like the New Forest Museum.
The Estimated annual cost: £10k

New Forest Oak
Studies have already been completed by Forestry Commission staff based on a similar project in the Forest of Dean. There will be a number of partners in the project.
Estimated initial costs: £10k over 2 years.
