Start up The Trustees knew there would be considerable outlays in getting the Trust started. They were grateful for two unrestricted donations to pay for such costs. One of these extends for five years and gives the Trust a very strong base to become firmly established. The Trustees were advised to take professional advice on how to launch the New Forest Trust. The Christopher Tower Foundation provided the initial money and this was matched by New Forest Leader Plus funds to permit consultants from the Management Centre to be hired. This project should be completed by December 31 2004 Website development The Trust was very pleased that a package of support was put together to pay for professional help to build and host its website including that for the ‘Friends’. Four companies using New Forest timber agreed to provide the basic fund and this was topped up by a 50% grant from the New Forest Leader Plus. This project is to be completed after 3 years but the initial work will be done before the end of December 2004. Crucial issues This spot is for a discussion of matters Friends of the New Forest think are crucial in sustaining the New Forest. Its value is in providing the Trustees with a range of opinions to inform their decisions when determining the order of priorities for projects they might be asked to support. To start the discussion are three topics with a tongue in cheek view. These do not represent the views of the New Forest Trust Board.
